"Loves Me, Loves Me Not" Inspiration

Inspiration, ProcessSara GoldenComment

I have memories of being a little girl, playing outside in the yard and picking the wildflowers growing along the fence around my house. I’d always look for the ones with long, spindly stems that could be wrapped together to make flower crowns for myself and tiny bouquets for my mom.

As I grew up, those flowers suddenly took on new meaning — “Loves me, loves me not, loves me, loves me not…” until you landed on the last petal, which told you if your feelings were reciprocated.

This collection was inspired by those fortune-telling flowers. Here, you can play “Loves me, loves me not” on flowers made from 14k gold, and you’ll always land on that final gemstone petal, assuring you that they do indeed love you, too.

To make these clairvoyant blooms, I started by building each petal with wax wire, bending, forming, and joining them so they would feel windblown and wild. The center of each flower is dotted with small gold beads, with shapes bleeding together for an organic, weather-worn look.

These pieces were made to be enjoyed on their own — golden flowers with accents in peach and champagne-colored stones — or as tokens of affection, reminders of the love you’ve found. Either way, I’d love to invite you to explore these new pieces:
